Story

Cat's Colors (Picture Puffins)

What is Cat's favorite color? Is it green, like the grass where he likes to walk? Or yellow, like the sand on a sunny beach? Children who are learning new colors can join in Cat's fun, as he explores the colors all around him. With its bright palette and playful, endearing kitten, this cheery book is perfect for the very young child.

Fingerplays/Songs

Lots Of Yellow
(tune: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star)

We wear lots of yellow things.
Hear us name them as we sing:
Yellow shirts and yellow shoes,
Yellow pants with pockets, too.
We wear lots of yellow things.
Hear us name them as we sing.

Art

Yellow Flowers

Crumble precut yellow tissue circles and glue on green construction paper to represent yellow flowers in the grass.

Yarn Designs

Provide yellow yarn, glue, and construction paper for children to make their own designs. Cut yarn into sections of different lengths. Dip each piece of yarn into watered-down glue, then arrange on construction paper. Let dry. The next day use water color paint to paint in the sections.
